The Beaver on Queen West: NOW CLOSED

The Beaver permanently closed in 2020 after 14 years serving Parkdale and Queen West.

The Beaver is a beloved restaurant and bar that occupies a special place in Toronto’s queer scene. As a fixture of the city’s thriving and eclectic west-end culture, it has earned a reputation for its inclusive and safe atmosphere for the LGBTQ2S+ community. Beyond its cozy and welcoming environment, the food is exceptional. The menu is small but much care goes into what is offered. We ordered the lamb burgers and a starter with pear, cambazola, and fig preserves that rivaled the dishes at some of Toronto’s top restaurants.

The bar hosts a range of events, from drag shows to karaoke nights, that celebrate queer culture and provide a platform for emerging performers.

The Beaver is not only a great spot for entertainment, food and drinks, but it’s also an affordable one. Two people can easily dine here for under $50, which is a lovely bonus. 1192 Queen St W, Toronto.
