The Saint on Ossington: NOW CLOSED

The Saint permanently closed in spring of 2016.

The Saint restaurant tips its hat to the Wesley United Church, a historic spot situated at the corner of Dundas and Ossington (back when it wasn’t even known as Ossington yet!). It marked the farthest western edge of the city back in the day.

Executive chef Andrew Bradford (formerly at Jacobs and Co., Brassaii, Spoke Club) creates “food that makes you happy” at The Saint. Everything is made in-house, and I love a server who is so passionate about the food that I found myself quite excited for the wedge salad, and as Homer Simpson so wisely put it, you don’t win friends with salad. I think Homer would have made friends with this one. It had delicious salty meat in it.

We all had steak, and our server organized the most ideal cut in the kitchen to ensure an optimal meat-eating experience. It tasted like candy. There is a 40-ounce porterhouse on the menu, apparently it is very popular. Not surprised.

The Saint is backed by Peter Tsebelis and Gus Giazitzidis, owners of King Street Food Company, renowned for establishments like Buca and Jacobs and Co. (They also launched Brassaii, subsequently selling it.) The Saint is open for dinner and weekend brunch. 227 Ossington Ave, Toronto.
