St. Lawrence Market in Toronto

This morning we wanted to buy some fresh salmon, so we headed to where Torontonians have been discovering the best food in the city since 1803- the St. Lawrence Market.

St. Lawrence Market is a perfect shopping destination if you have absolutely no idea what to make for dinner and need inspiration. National Geographic named it one of the best food markets in the world.

The variety of meat and seafood is eye-popping. The vendors are extremely knowledgeable and can help you make a selection if you are feeling overwhelmed. If you are planning a dinner party, make life easy for yourself and pick up your appetizers here. Beautiful and so delicious.

The main and lower levels of the South Market (where all the food is) are open from Tuesday-Friday 9am – 7pm, Saturday 7am – 5pm and Sunday 10 am – 5pm.

There are over 120 merchants and vendors at the St. Lawrence Market, and plenty of places to pick up lunch including my fave Buster’s Sea Cove. A terrific way to spend a Saturday morning. The historic St. Lawrence Market complex is located at 92 – 95 Front Street East in Toronto.

  1. Can’t beat the market for variety and cuts of meat you can’t get anywhere else. We usually go down every couple of months just for the atmosphere, and of course the back bacon on a bun.
