“La vendemmia” is a very special time of year in Italy. It refers to the fall grape harvest. This is a time of year that is difficult to predict because it can’t really be scheduled. It happens with the grapes are at the peak of their ripeness, and ready to be picked for wine. The Vendemmia Wine Festival in Woodbridge is a wonderful celebration in August at the Veneto Centre. Delicious food and the best “uva per vino” are available for purchase- the grapes for making wine.

The entire day finishes with a wine-stomping competition. Stomping grapes was a very interesting experience… the grapes are colder than you would expect.
