It was a beautiful day for this delicious event in King City’s Memorial Park with a great selection of gourmet food trucks, local breweries and an amazing schedule of live music. $15 gets you entry into the event with access to food, beer and live music plus three drink tokens. If you aren’t a drinker and just want to go and enjoy the music, $5 gets you access to the event grounds. Kids under 12 are free. We started with pulled pork from Smokinstein Food Truck.
Contrary to the spooky name, the operators of Smokinstein’s are very, very friendly.
Fans of craft beer will love this event as the breweries on-site were local and highly delicious. We had beer from Churchkey, the first microbrewery in Northumberland County. It is named for the 1878 Methodist Church it is located in, just on the outskirts of Campbellford, Ontario.
If you prefer cider to beer, the cider from Brickworks Ciderhouse was very refreshing. It was crisp and not overly sweet. Brickworks is Toronto’s first ciderhouse and not only uses 100% Ontario apples, but states that “no apple in our cider travels more than 300 kilometres from the tree to the Ciderhouse.”
Poutine is one of my favourite festival foods so I had to head over to the Wickedly Sinful truck for the #WickedAwesome poutine. Wickedly Sinful is a Newmarket-based food truck that makes the rounds of many York Region events. It was definitely wicked awesome, as was the Dutch Chocolate from Docella Gelato.
Big Grill Catering and BBQ makes some seriously amazing hamburgers.
While we all ate and drank and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine, there was a wonderful line-up of live music taking place on the mainstage. Vancouver alt dance-rockers Dear Rouge headlined and here’s Lester McLean who performed with Jaugernaut.
It was an amazing day, filled with wonderful food, drinks and live music. Memorial Park at 25 Doctors Lane is a perfect spacious venue for this family-friendly event. The park is located directly under the water tower that says “York Region” near the corner of King Rd. and Keele St.
