The Ace on Roncesvalles

Really enjoyed The Ace on Roncesvalles. I’ve been told their kale salad with beets, goat’s cheese and crispy chick peas is a must-order but I’m pretty bored by all things kale right now so I chose the deep-fried brussels sprouts tossed in vinaigrette to start. So good. Order these even if you think you loathe brussels sprouts!

The server did such an amazing job describing the daily fish special that our entire table ordered it. It was trout cooked with bacon, potato and veg; the skin was that perfect crispiness only pro chefs seem to be able to pull off.

This is a great place for those who enjoy real cocktail standards. Here’s a lovely Old Fashioned Irish prepared with Jameson Irish Whiskey.

The housemade ice creams and sorbets are delicious. My basil sorbet was refreshing but a little icy to dig into. I was a bit envious of everyone’s ice cream.

I would like to return to try the peanut butter icebox pie. And maybe even the kale salad. The Ace is located at 231A Roncevalles Ave, Toronto.
