Invictus Games 2017 in Toronto

“Time and time again, competitors from around the world tell me that sport has saved them; that the Invictus Games have given them a new lease on life; and that to represent their country again with fellow comrades is something they could only have dreamt of while lying in hospital.”

— Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex

What an incredible week! Toronto embraced the Invictus Games with open arms and anyone who made it out to an event was blown away by the strength and spirit of the competitors. We attended a wheelchair rugby game between Canada and Australia and it was amazing… the competitors, men and women, were incredible to watch in action. Check out this passing for the try of the game for Canada:

My favourite moment at the closing ceremony on Saturday night was when Prince Harry came out after the star-studded concert and said to the competitors- “you said you wanted Bruce Springsteen- and I got him for you!” You could tell he was so proud to have organized an artist that everyone had wanted. The concert featured Bruce Springsteen, Kelly Clarkson, Coeur di Pirate, Bryan Adams, Bachman and Turner… it was awesome. The highlight was when Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams performed together, doing one of each other’s songs… “Badlands” and “Cuts Like a Knife.” What a sensational jam. Here’s a bit of Bruce performing “Dancing in the Dark”:

The Invictus Games will be held in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
