When researching traditional Algerian food, we quickly realized that we had to have tangine and coucous. And we learned that one of the best places to have those dishes in Toronto is at Morocco House, on Brown’s Line in south Etobicoke.
Tangine is a North African stew of spiced meat and vegetables that is cooked slowly in a shallow earthenware dish. This beef tagine was loaded with vegetables and chunks of juicy braised beef that melted in your mouth. The olives were amazing salty flavour bombs and there were lots of them, which always makes me happy.
The chicken couscous was filled with caramelized onions, raisins and chickpeas, cooked with spices that were fragrant and lovely. A great third stop on the #WorldInOurCity tour. Morocco House is located at 876 Brown’s Line in Etobicoke. 416-519-2777.
