We had an artificial tree for many years, having received it as a very thoughtful present at our November wedding. After about 15 years this tree was ready to be replaced and a few years ago we started buying a real Christmas tree, which is so much fun. We head to Tom’s Dairy Freeze the weekend after they get their first shipment, which is usually the last week of November. They have a beautiful selection of both Balsam and Fraser firs. We buy a Fraser fir because they are considered the longest lasting trees, with strong branches for my heavy ornaments. If you are looking for a real Christmas tree in Toronto, Tom’s is perfect. They will help you choose your tree, chop the base with a chainsaw, and load it into your car. You may have heard there’s a Christmas tree shortage this year so if you are planning to purchase a real tree it’s probably now time to do it so it doesn’t get stressful. Tom’s still has plenty, and another lovely local place selling real Christmas trees in Mississauga is Dairy Cream on Lakeshore (it’s like the Tom’s of Port Credit!) Rosie 🙂
