This was the NHL All-Star weekend so all of the Maple Leafs except one had the weekend off. The one of course was Mitch Marner who played in the All-Star game. Auston Matthews would have been there as well had he not been hurt. Alexsander Barkov took his spot (which was a bit of a snub to William Nylander). The event was in Florida and at the skills competition Marner was apparently inspired by his surroundings and sported a sweet Miami Vice inspired suit.
Marner’s Atlantic Division team won the final and he had three assists, but an additionally impressive feat was in his post-game interview where he was challenged to slip the word “gator” into his answers as many times as possible.

Regular NHL league games get started again Monday, but the Leafs don’t play until a home and home with the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets. Would love to see them take all 4 points. Still sore from the playoff loss in the bubble.
