A Krispy Kreme Doughnut Cafe has just opened in the west end of Toronto at 2424 Bloor St. West, just east of Jane Street beside Lemon Mart.

This is great news for Krispy Kreme lovers in the Etobicoke area of the city, as the only other locations are in downtown Toronto and in Mississauga on Mavis. Krispy Kreme has had a tumultuous time in Ontario, with several locations opening and closing over the years. It does seem to be making a renewed effort to establish a presence with its recent store openings. When the first Krispy Kreme location in Canada opened back in December 2001 on Harbord Street just west of Spadina, Torontonians were very eager to try the company’s famous glazed doughnuts and lined up for hours, with some very zealous doughnut-lovers even camping out overnight to be among the first in line.

I remember everyone being very excited about their “Hot Light” system… the neon sign that lights up when the doughnuts are hot and fresh out of the oven. 2424 Bloor St. West, at Jane Street.
