Opening Soon: Costco at Islington and the 401

A brand new Costco Wholesale will be opening later this year at 2200 Islington Avenue. This Costco is situated where the old Sears warehouse used to be across from the Walmart shopping centre. It will have a gas station as well as a very roomy two-storey parking lot unlike other Costco locations.

Costco will be the anchor of this new development of 50,000 square metres of retail space at Islington and Rexdale. The new plaza will also have an LCBO and Toronto’s largest Canadian Tire location.

So when is the new Costco in Etobicoke opening? The Costco website has a list of locations that are scheduled to open in the next few months. Currently only one Canadian location is listed on the site; the new Costco in south London, Ontario that opened in March. It’s likely then that the new Costco at Islington and the 401 will require a few more months of construction before it’s ready to open its doors, expectedly during the fall when the new Canadian Tire is set to open.

For those interested in applying for jobs at the Costco on Islington or any of the Costco warehouses in Canada, you can explore the positions available by clicking Apply Now on the job opportunities page on the official Costco Canada website. It will direct you to an external link, where you can search all the available jobs at Costco. Right now there aren’t any positions posted for this location, but they will likely pop up closer to the opening date.

Costco in Rexdale at Islington and the 401 is located at 2200 Islington Avenue, Toronto.

    • Costco hasn’t provided a specific date yet for the opening of this location, but it’s likely to be sometime in the fall when the Canadian Tire has announced it will be opening at this site. The Costco website lists the month of the opening of their new locations when they get closer to the opening date, so we will watch their site for updates!

    • Based on the information available, the stores that are scheduled to open in the development with the new Costco and Canadian Tire include LCBO, Church’s Chicken, Burger King, Firehouse Subs, BMO, Hunnypot Cannabis, Roll Me Up Ice Cream, Thai Express, Fat Bastard Burrito, Booster Juice, and Pedi’n Nails.
