Opening Soon: Spanish Pig on Roncesvalles Avenue

The Spanish Pig is now open.

The Spanish Pig, a Canadian online retailer, is on the verge of opening its first brick-and-mortar store on Roncesvalles Avenue. They specialize in selling authentic luxury Spanish food products, including jamón, chorizo, Ibérico Ham, luxury canned seafood, and charcuterie board kits.

In late March during the early stages of construction, animal rights activists protested the storefront graphics of The Spanish Pig, which showcased cheerful photos of pigs and an octopus. The protestors covered the windows with paper, painted slogans, and expressed their message against animal slaughter and consumption. In response to the protest, owner Jonathan Larrad removed the animal photos from the window. The protest was peaceful, resulting in no damage to the property, and no charges were filed.

The Spanish Pig was born out of Larrad’s lifelong passion for Spanish food. With roots in Madrid and now based in Toronto, Jonathan aims to share his love for Spanish cuisine with Canadians. The Larrad family’s food legacy traces back to 1914 when Don Adolfo Larrad, Jonathan’s great-grandfather, opened a shop selling imported food from old Spanish Colonial countries in Madrid.

Spanish Pig is located at 77 Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto.
