Now Closed: Aquarium & Flowers on Lake Shore Blvd. West

While their collaboration may not be as obvious as perfume and fireworks, I always loved the sign on this store. I don’t know how their aquatic selection was but their flowers were beautiful and will be missed in Mimico.

Located at 2372 Lake Shore Blvd West, it’s just a two-minute walk from this mural at Burlington and Lake Shore, painted by the Student Artists of the Lakeshore Area (SALA). These young artists worked with local community members and business owners to develop a theme for the mural, which is called “Inspiration.”

Inspiration (2006)

When you look at the mural from left to right, you’ll notice a few key elements. On the far left, there’s a red snake and two figures in a struggle. Above the snake, you’ll see a white dove, which represents a progressive future, hope, and new beginnings. It’s a symbol of optimism. In the middle of the mural, there’s a child with two birds, symbolizing the new generation in the community. On the right side, two angels are painting a golden path by the water. This path represents limitless possibilities for the community. The mural also includes a message from SALA, who wanted to share their love and inspiration with the community through this artwork:

It fills me with joy. You can find this vibrant mural located along Burlington Street, precisely at 2318 Lake Shore Blvd. West, Etobicoke, Toronto.
