Milkbox Mural in Mimico

A beautiful mural project is currently underway on the exterior of Oak Learners on Royal York Road, south of Evans Avenue. The Mimico Village Business Improvement Association has collaborated with the artist, Kayla Buium of Milkbox, for several years. Kayla is a Montreal-based muralist and illustrator known for her work on the Maps of Mimico, which includes sidewalk decals and a Mimico map showcased at the Mimico Markets. Here is one of her murals she did for the Leslieville BIA:

The BIA secured funding for the project with assistance from the City of Toronto’s Mural and Street Art program. Business associations and community groups can secure one-time funding for outdoor murals that promote local themes and help boost the identity of their neighbourhoods. The official unveiling is scheduled for the evening of Saturday October 28th. 394 Royal York Road, Etobicoke, Toronto.
