Health and wellness store Healthy Planet located at 1000 Islington Avenue is moving a short distance to a much larger stand-alone building. Healthy Planet Islington is relocating to 994 Islington, beside the McDonald’s. This new location will feature a Healthy Planet Kitchen which has a seating area where you can enjoy meals. snacks and beverages. Toronto Scoop visited the new Healthy Planet Kitchen that recently opened in downtown Toronto; you can check out the types of meals that will be on the menu here.

This was the location that was previous occupied by RONA, which has permanently closed here. (If you are looking for a RONA, it is now located in the former Lowe’s on North Queen. In July 2023, Rona replaced Lowe’s in Toronto and converted 10 Lowe’s stores in Ontario to a new banner called RONA+.)

On August 21, 2021, Dunpar Homes, the owner of the 1.7 acres of land where the former Rona store was situated, submitted a conversion request to the City of Toronto for a portion of the property. (A conversion request is a formal application made to change the designated use of a specific piece of land, typically involving a shift from one land use category to another, such as from commercial to residential or industrial to mixed-use.) Dunpar wanted to allow residential use by converting it from an employment area to a mixed-use area. However, based on a preliminary assessment by staff, the recommendation was to retain the land’s designation as an employment area.

Healthy Planet has 35 locations throughout Ontario, and recently opened a massive two-level store in the the heart of downtown Toronto at Yonge-Dundas Square. 994 Islington Avenue, Etobicoke, Toronto.
